Get Active

St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School supports DfE guidance to promote health and fitness and encourage the children to be active in school, participating in the Daily Mile and daily exercise/active play.

For a number of years, we have been raising funds to put towards a playground development project.

The project started with our running tracks being installed on the top and lower fields and we were delighted that in the summer term 2021 we moved on to the next stage of our project which involved installing large climbing apparatus, an outdoor classroom, a ball shooter, trim trail and new seating areas.

The Head Teacher, Governing Body and staff of the school thank friends of the school, parents and parish and community members who have donated generously to our playground fund over the last few years. We also thank the Liverpool Archdiocese for approving and financially helping to support this project.

Ms Lennon originally started to plan the playground development project with our former Chair of Governors, the late Sarah Boardman who, as a fitness instructor, was a strong believer in health, fitness and exercise. She would be as excited as we are to see these plans come to fruition.

This is such an exciting development and we are so pleased to be able to create and provide an amazing play space for our wonderful children. We hope it will be something really positive and exciting for them after the rather challenging times of the pandemic, restrictions and partial school closures. A time for fun, joy and celebration – the children really deserve it!
